quick bite at our old haunt, lite delights.
we'd only mostly gotten pre-packed meals and juices there,
but this time i tried their tofu salad, which was simple & delicious.
and of course, our usual tuna salad sandwich (eaten up by the photo time)
with strawberry fields smoothie and a carrot+ginger+apple juice.

julia came over for a haircut & lunch today, and she made us this
delicious veggie burger with this recipe. i made the brussels sprouts
side dish - the veggie burger started off tasting a bit bland but grew
more delicious with each bite & patty!

then a late night meal at BCD tofu house after a whole day of
sick cat fiasco... poor kitty.
meals there come with the regular banchan AND a grilled fish!
we got spicy seafood tofu stew and a veggie bibimbap.
i love the traditional ending to the spicy meals, nurungji - crisped rice
stuck to the bottom of the pot, with hot tea poured over it.
a great, simple palate cleanser.

quick bite at champs family bakery & kingsland sandwich shop
iced coffee, gluten-free cupcake (sadly, a big mistake),
and amazing tempeh burger with salad greens, potato salad,
and avocado.
delicious as always.

brunch with friends at supercore in their pretty backyard.
a big spread and a range of food ordered - a big matcha latte
(so pretty!) & avocado sandwich (on fluffy japanese sandwich bread),
ricotta & spinach omelette, a plate of smoked salmon salad,
and my favorite, japanese classic platter with tofu patties.

some dishes didn't get to be photographed as i was stuffing my face
when they arrived.

late night bites at papacitos.
my good ol' fish tacos & m ordered a wet soyrizo burrito.
yummy.

late dinner after a visit to the morgan library (which, by the way is amazing)
we went for a simple bite/drinks at woorijip - our go-to place when we're stuck
in midtown, despite (or because of) its asian convenience store-ness.
although it being friday night, it was like a party house in there (along with our own).

m & i shared a buffet platter ($6.99/lb) of the above choices - futomaki (kimbap),
marinated tofu, seakelp salad, bokchoy, seafood pancake, inari sushi,
scallion pancake.
amazingly a good amount for 2 people!
must come back for more food again.

another amazing csa meal right after the weekly pickup.
crisped garlic scapes over veggie sausages, HUGE salad of lettuce, arugula,
kale, radish, carrots, scallions, topped with our csa eggs as well.
then fresh strawberries (that were off the hook!) for dessert.
so so perfect.

relaxing late night dinner at supercore.
we got their salmon dish, misoni, and also got something new on their menu,
teriyaki tofu.
neither m nor i normally like the regular "teriyaki" sauce and its syrupy, overly
sweet flavor. but this tasted perfect all over crisped tofu, mushrooms & greens
over brown rice - very homey tasting, just like their other foods!

amazing csa meal that m put together for dinner.
a stirfry of bok choy, turnips & turnip greens from csa with dried mushrooms
and a hearty salad of csa kale & chard with broad beans and tomatoes.
we had a side of tofu sausages which went well with all the greens.
nothing better than a tummy full of veggies!

super feeling meal (followed by a bit of guilt) at shanghai lee.
m was so hungry that he got an extra appetizer of fried calamari,
which we probably will never re-order (or should have gotten in
the first place) - it was too batter-heavy, though i didn't eat much of it.

luckily we got the chinese broccoli & garlic, with general tso's tofu.
wish the greens were less oily like the dish at congee village...
which we must return to soon!

it was too dark for any good pictures but the banchan was so good
at dokebi tonight.
two different kimchis, some kind of broccoli/celery/carrot stirfry,
fish cakes, potato salad, fried potato something, bean sprouts namul.

we also got our cravings, tofu bibimbap & my soondubu stew,
(unfortunately photographed too horribly to post) which made us
so insanely full. we're getting old!

after an art supplies run & being turned away at a few spots
we attempted to eat at, we returned to our once-regular place,
choice market - their food is always decent, though we always feel
their prices could be a little bit lower.

m got their special spicy tilapia sandwich, and i got a pre-packaged
salmon salad - which, despite my weariness about it being pre-packaged,
was really really good.

and for dinner i made myself another veggie platter :

grilled asparagus, tomatoes, roasted carrots & mushrooms,
baba ganouj, overeasy egg, over quinoa pilaf i made the other day.
so so filling!!!!

Monday, June 13, 2011

veggie fish bowl i made (yet again) today for dinner.
quinoa pilaf (with asiago, oregano & lemon zest), topped with overeasy egg,
grilled asparagus, roasted carrots, canned sardines, and roasted red pepper
& artichoke tapenade (from trader joe's).
very simple & hits my recently hiked veggie cravings.

good dinner at khao sarn thai : som tum (green papaya salad),
and two entrees of pineapple curry with tofu & veggie duck in oyster sauce
over brown rice - very satisfying!!
and a little treat of mint chip ice cream at van leeuwen ice creamery.

Friday, June 10, 2011

finally the heat has subsided for a bit and we're able to hang outside!
amidst a lot of work, i stepped out for lunch at papacitos, who has been
on its game lately - i got the grilled tilapia tacos again, and m got
a soyrizo burrito. so good!

but not as good as what i can't get enough of lately :

veggies & fruits!
for dinner, i grilled some asparagus on the stove again, with overeasy egg,
sauteed kale, topped with roasted red pepper & artichoke tapenade (from
trader joe's), s&p, nutritional yeast, and a bit of dijon.
and of course, strawberries & grapes for dessert.

great & light turkish meal at seven hills cafe.
red lentil soup, appetizer platter (turkish eggplants, babaganoush,
hummus, tzatziki & scallion tabouleh) and a salmon kebab with salad.
everything was cooked so well, especially the kebab.
yummy!
