we're moving to a different neighborhood in brooklyn in a day,
so feasting our last nights at a few nearby favorites...

tonight was at taro sushi, where we tried their wagyu beef tataki,
fresh crab salad, and the tonkatsu dinner.

i bet it'll be harder to eat here when we move farther north!

great pop-up vietnamese food at bep (mondays @ simple cafe).
roast pork spring rolls, spicy lemon grass chicken on vermicelli,
pho, and some beer & soda chanh - a happy happy meal for us.

late night ramen run in the rain @ menkuitei.
horumon-yaki (grilled pork intestine), mabo tofu rice,
with calpico soda - though i forgot to picture the ramen!

spring is almost here!
amazing olive oil cake & stumptown coffee at the new café peddlar.

sweet potato pound cake and coffee.

sometimes one just needs a decent burger and a shake.

great mexican food for lunch, so filling it's immobilizing...
mole chicken plate and my chile relleno burrito.

great polish food with jet lagged aya.
platter of pierogis, stuffed cabbage & kielbasa, and beef goulash.
when they said "red" or "yellow" sodas, they really meant it. <3<3

lunch is too good a deal at dokebi to pass up,
even though we recently ate there.
kimchi stew soup & bibimbap in hot stone bowl.

breakfast at brooklyn label (lox & bagel, oatmeal)
on a roller coaster day, which ended in a bum-out situation. :(

to be honest, i didn't have much expectations,
as i normally would with korean food outside of k-town realm.
but these were really good, and quite authentic!
i'd love to go back with some more people and try the bbq grill.

they have stumptown coffee (from portland! <3) and amazing chipotle ketcup (in the jar above) & salsas.

sometimes one needs hunks of meat for breakfast. -_-;;

buttercream cake & pumpkin whoopie pie at one girl cookie.
finally can eat some normal food now... T_T

seattle/portland trip part 4:
leaving portland...


last time we were in portland, we stayed at the jupiter,
where they had a selection of voodoo donuts for sale,
so we never went down to the store.
i finally tried their bacon maple bar - i wished the bacon bits
were scattered all over the bar. salty & sweet is good.




then we encountered this sandwich truck (there are a few downtown),
called "headwaters cafe" - on sw 3rd, down the street from voodoo.

we got a pork sandwich & a meatloaf sandwich, both really good!!
the guy said he'd only been open for 3 weeks,
so hopefully he'll do well and stick around.

then to seattle to catch our plane...





we ate our last meal of the trip at via tribunali on pike.
really great salad & pizza, and i rarely say that outside of nyc.
we left sick but it still was a great meal!

seattle/portland trip part 3:
in portland...





we were pretty sick but still met up with my friend monica & her bf chris
at pambiche, a great little cuban place in the NE portland.
we had steak & eggs, cuban beef hash, and chris' french (cuban) toast.




and of course, the famed stumptown coffee in the old town area.
after browsing books for hours at powells, this was a great stop.
plus their cake donuts were amazing.
even better than the voodoos, at least this time!






then dinner later at farm cafe on e. burnside.
we found it on our last trip when we stayed at jupiter.
they only use local and seasonal ingredients,
so food there always tastes fresh.
we had amazing cheese plate, pear & gorgonzola salad,
true cod with nettle (amazing!!), and cheese cake.
a really good food day.
