got my CSA veggies today and cooked most of them all up and made more than a full meal.
made roasted potatoes & beets with onions (paprika, oregano, salt pepper, EVOO),
roasted zucchini & squash (same seasoning), our csa farmer's recipe of cucumer salad!
some cooked CSA eggs - they are amazing.
we had these along regular hummus, black bean hummus, stuffed grape leaves, which we ended up all stuffing together into pita breads.
also, i've been blanching & freezing most of the veggies (most of them that are eaten cooked).
i read it lasts that way for over a year!

*some* of the food i ate today (it was a heavy load day!)
CSA peaches & granola with fage yogurt for breakfast...
vietnamese avocado shake ♥ with banh mi & green papaya salad for lunch!
it was my first avocado shake in NYC (they never carry it on the menu)
and it was so perfect - not-too-sweet & a lil' nutty, thick & smooth, avocado-y, just delicious.

ramen setagaya after a super soaking bike ride into manhattan for our CSA.
so warm, so good, on such a wet, chilly day.
shio ramen (with perfectly cooked eggs!!), delicious buta-don (soy sauce marinated pork over rice),
and the shio tsuke-men - cold, flatter ramen noodles with a small bowl of dunkable broth of tender pork soup.
all cooked to perfection.

LA trip food part 4 :
having gotten some stomach bug/mild food poisoning from eating at fred 62 the night before the opening, we had to keep ourselves alive by eating some clean food.
above was at vegan café flore, my seitan avocado salad & fresh juices.
it was so healing and yummy!
went to see a friend in the valley, who took us to this amazing japanese home food place, daichan café.
we ordered tochu-cha, avocado natto, and poki bowls - tuna, red snapper & salmon.
then party food at audrey & bryan's.
such good ceviche she made!!

LA trip food part 3 :
went to a semi-douchy over-the-top cafe, LA mill coffee,
for breakfast. we're totally at a loss for breakfast choices
in LA now since backdoor cafe closed. :(
brioche donut holes with crême fraîche and granola.
coffee was undoubtedly good, though.
then dinner break at the good ol' pho café.
it's no little saigon but it's good for not having to leave silver lake,
and their taste hasn't changed in the past 6 years.

LA trip food part 2 :
one night we got to eat out with friends during my installation,
was an amazing meal at izakaya hondaya in little tokyo, with audrey, bryan & mari.
ate some great food ("special" hearts, bacon aspara, pork belly, squid sashimi <3<3<3), great conversations, sprouting interesting & exciting ideas together!
yay~!

LA trip food part 1
unfortunately i didn't get to eat or play too much on this trip.
it was mostly work work work.
but we ate the obligatory in-n-out as our first meal.
matthew got greedy and got himself 2 double-doubles,
officially meating & burgering himself out for a long time.
to cleanse off, i ate some clean quinoa and avocado salad
the next morning at millie's cafe :
man, LA has some huge portions.
